VoIP - Principal Engineer
Job Description:
Play a central role in design andarchitecture of Covad’s Voice platform to enable the VOIP businessline. Emphasis would be on giving comprehensive solutions end-to-end rightfrom order entry to end-user device(s) keeping Covad’s bottom-linein mind.
Provide leadership in driving the development teams’implementation of company’s business requirements. Assist thedevelopment team as and when needed regarding Covad’s vision for theproduct line.
Provide extensible solutions to work with the latestvoice solutions available in the market and to be able to work towardskeeping Covad’s Voice Applications on par if not ahead of itscompetitors.
Display agility in embracing new technologies toensure Covad systems stay current. Special emphasis on new protocols likeSIP (Session Initiation Protocol) as well as new voice devices.
Continuously explore and update functional knowledge within the area ofVOIP to design, develop and help manage application integration with softswitches and other 3rd party voice service(s) provider(s).
Design, develop and manage applications which are J2EE based or whichcan integrate with J2EE systems.
Should have excellent verbal andwritten skills to be able to communicate effectively with various teamsranging from Network Engineering to Product Development to Business Usersand Software Development teams.
Job Requirements
Sound working knowledgeof at least 1 or more soft switches, specifically Sylantro and/orBroadsoft Network Server and good integration experience.
Goodworking experience using and integrating with 3rd party voicefeature servers; features like Voicemail, Conferencing, Fax, etc.
Design and implementation of operations specific software using Javatechnology, specifically – Web Services, EJB, Servlet, JSP, serverside development, client/server technologies, web applications andapplications servers.
UML, UNIX environment, and Oracledatabase.
Good enterprise architecture sense to ensure seamlesssystems integration
Bachelor’s degree in CS, EE orrelated and 7 years of experience in job offered or in Voice ApplicationsDevelopment and Design; or Master’s degree in CS, EE or related and4+ years of experience
