VoIP Engineer
Job Description:
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Monitoring, troubleshooting & correcting server and network problems for client base. Monitoring and manage client networks for alarm conditions and response/remediation. Setting up client configurations in monitoring tools. Contributing to process improvement for reporting, operational procedures, and tools assessment.
Documenting client information for communication to other staff for open issues and follow-up on escalated problems. Receives customer trouble tickets, analyzes and takes corrective action. Prepares reports and creates product accounts on a daily basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
Monitor deployed production network servers
Serve as primary initial responder within the Network Operations Center in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving network problems
Strong analytical skills
Experience in NOC operations and process management
Document all network-related activities in ticketing system
Variety of systems, applications and tools background in NOC environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong layer 2/layer 3 routing/switching knowledge
Strong understanding of multiple routing & switching protocols
Current Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification
Preferable strong Unix skills and/or Linux background
Windows 2000, 2003, Exchange 2000, 2003, 2007, Active Directory
Windows Performance Monitoring (Log analysis experience)
Load Analysis, patches and updates, server utilities
Alarm/Threshhold setting
Configure SNMP on Windows servers and Cisco devices for client setup
Cisco CallManager and Unity Administration experience for MAC changes
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor’s Degree or 2-year technical school degree, 2-5 yrs experience
