Freedom to get your job done without a lot of red tape. CHECK.

Thinking Phone Networks (www.thinkingphones.com) is seeking well qualified applicants to join the backend service delivery team of a fast growing, enterprise business-focused Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) provider in the Cambridge MA area.
The industry is in the midst of a fundamental shift. Traditional lines of demarcation between premise based pbx vendors, carriers, and new software based entrants is blurring. We believe that over the next 5 years a large portion of the existing enterprise UC market will be delivered via the cloud. Existing carriers and pbx vendors are struggling with delivering enterprise class cloud based solutions, and we believe this very large market opportunity is up for grabs by newer UCaaS entrants with a strong vision and ability to execute.
-Excellent analytic and troubleshooting skills for problems that span multiple domains (applications, network, system, hardware).

-The position requires an organized, highly motivated individual that has excellent project and task management skills.

Hard Skills

-Hands on familiarity with SIP and RTP protocols required. Knowledge of XMPP protocol is highly desirable. You should be able to read wireshark SIP call traces in your sleep.

-Experience with PBX UC functionality: extension plans, ring groups, find me / follow me, shared line appearances, call parking, etc.

-Experience with Call Center UC functionality such as agent login / logoff, queues, ACD, realtime consoles, call center analytics, etc.

-Operational experience with OpenSIPS, Kamailio, OpenSER, or SER a big plus.

-Operational experience with Asterisk PBX a big plus.

-Operational experience with Openfire or ejabberd a big plus.

-Experience building and supporting high volume / high availability architectures a big plus.

-Knowledge of SIP endpoints such as Polycom handsets, ATA units, soft phones a plus.

-Experience with video endpoints (e.g. Polycom HDX, Tandberg, etc) a plus.

-Familiarity at the Linux command line, and experience supporting mission critical apps in a Linux (or other Unix) environment required.

-Scripting or coding experience (e.g. bash, perl, python, ruby) a plus.

Responsibilities

-Develop, test, productionalize, and support high availability UC architectures to support our enterprise customer base.

-Develop, test, productionalize, and support new UC features to support enterprise customer requirements.

-Work with the Infrastructure team (OS, Network and below), and Development (in-house developed application stack) to design and support our UC platform as a whole.

-Provide communication to management and other constituents about project status, maintenance activity and other notable events.

-Lead, mentor, and organize a team to create elegant, scalable, resilient, and documented service designs, while at the same time meeting business goals and deadlines.
